Balanced Farming and Family Living in Kansas scheme

A Kansas Extension Service program, Balanced Farming and Family Living, guides farm families to optimize resources amid weather and markets. Since 1945, pilot counties like Wabaunsee tested methods used nationwide, with funds (Public Law 83) supporting county level activities and ongoing expansion through Extension services and USDA agencies. The ten standards cover soil, pasture, livestock balance, finances, farmstead design, home, nutrition, health, and youth programs, aiming for broad adoption and improved living standards.
