About 300 people attended the district convention of Job's Daughters at the Masonic temple in Bethel with the Ottawa bethel hosting the school of instruction and Grand Guardian's visit. The event featured a 1:30 pm instruction session led by Grand Guardian Lizzie Mae Farrell, a 6:30 pm banquet, initiation of eight girls, petitions received, and announcements that the Grand Session will be in Topeka June 10-11. Three inmates expelled from besieged maximum security building
Gov. Victor E. Anderson personally commanded the response as three convicts were kicked out of the besieged three story jail during the early morning hours. The governor quoted one expelled inmate saying they left by mutual agreement because they were deemed dead weight by the insurgents. Guards remained unharmed and the governor said the men were not planning an escape. The building has a single exit and scores of guards and state patrols surrounded it since Sunday morning.
