Sons of the Desert set for Spring Young Country finale in Ottawa
The Sons of the Desert with Lee Ann Womack will perform May 5 at Ottawa Municipal Auditorium for the Spring Young Country Concert Finale. The group, formed in 1990, has four ACM nominations including Top New Vocal Duet Group and Vocal Event of the Year. Dave Adamson and the Stonecreek Band open. tickets run 17.50 to 12.50, on sale April 16.

Cartoonist Hanna Dies at 90 in Los Angeles
William Hanna, longtime half of the Hanna Barbera duo, died at age 90 in North Hollywood with wife Violet beside him. He created Fred Flintstone, Yogi Bear, Tom and Jerry, and Scooby Doo, winning seven Academy Awards with partner Joseph Barbera. The couple’s work spanned MGM to Warner Bros and live-action films, with many cartoons airing on Boomerang. Betty Cohen of Cartoon Network offered condolences.
