Census Shows Rural Midwest Towns Dying
In Morland Kansas the class of 2001 will graduate from Morland High School with 19 students before the school closes, a sign of a broader census trend. Across the Midwest and Great Plains many counties lost residents in the 1990s as farms shrink and young people move away, leaving aging communities behind.
