Leading Economic Index declines but U.S. growth persists
The Conference Board said the Leading Economic Index fell 0.2 percent in February to 108.8 after a revised 0.5 percent rise in January. Despite declines in four of five months, the index has not signaled a recession, with analysts noting slow growth likely to continue. A Labor Department report showed unemployment benefit claims dipping last week.
