Former Kansas doctor faces hearing over license suspension
Louisville AP reports suspended obstetrician Dr. Joseph Rich, formerly of Kansas, will have a July 16 hearing before the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure after a judge upheld a hearing officer’s decision to sustain the suspension. The case stems from a March 9 labor incident at Humana Hospital Southwest where a nurse attended a delivery unassisted after Rich failed to answer his pager. Rich had given up his Kansas license in 1988. Kansas had dropped a separate case accusing him of unnecessary surgery on 20 women.
