Ottawa Society Notes Highlight Welch Family Visit

Former Ottawan James S. Welch and wife from Columbus Ohio spent time with local friends. They dined with David Mudrick and joined son Terry and Steven Mudrick Thursday night. The Welchs visited Mrs Welch’s parents the Millers in Sycamore who celebrate their golden anniversary tomorrow. Mrs Welch heads to Washington DC for a conference and will receive a $1000 fellowship from Electrical Women’s Round Table on June 22 at the Mayflower Hotel for graduate work in home economics. Ottawa reunion family visits from Detroit to Kansas City

Visiting parents Mr and Mrs O R Norman traveled to Kansas City Thursday night to meet daughter Mrs Dick Zingle and sons Mark and Kirk arriving from Detroit Michigan. They plan several weeks here as Mr Zingle studies at MIT in Cambridge Massachusetts while employed by Parke Davis. Mrs Zingle will attend the 41 Ottawa High School reunion tonight at Ottawa Country Club.

Soroptimists Hold Installation Dinner at North American Hotel

Soroptimists held an installation dinner Thursday at 7 pm at the North American Hotel. The event featured yellow and blue club colors with brass bowls, blue daisies, yellow candles, and blue tulle festoons. Mrs. Bruce Allison presided as retiring president, with Miss Virginia Brand Lawrence directing the North district of the South Central Soroptimist chapter.

Far and Near Club Entertainment at Princeton Home

The Far and Near Club gathered Thursday afternoon at Mrs. Eugene Domanish’s home three miles northeast of Princeton. Attendees sang America and Brighten the Corner, shared vacation plans, and noted a birthday gift for Mrs. Harry Moody. Door prize went to Mrs. Birdie Macy and refreshments were served by Mrs. David Brown and Mrs. Bennie Stinson.
