A southbound auto driven by Thomas McRae collided with a truck driven by John Schafer at Main and 7th yesterday around 6 pm. Police estimated $350 damage to McRae’s car and $50 to Schafer’s truck. McRae had stopped at a traffic light and the rear end was crushed.
Benjamin Franklin Ogg, 91, longtime Ottawa meat market operator and prominent local businessman, died at Ransom Memorial Hospital after a fall at Cedarhouse convalescent home. Born April 17, 1865 in Noble county Ohio, he moved with his family to Kansas in 1869 and later to Oklahoma before settling in Ottawa in 1908. He started a Fourth and Main meat market, later moving to 330 South Main, where it operated until 1947, and was married February 8, 19...
J J Dwyer 79 died yesterday at the northwest Wellsville home from a stroke suffered Wednesday morning. Born April 1 1877 in Edgerton he lived 44 years on the farm where he died. He wed Matilda Madl October 16 1907 at Eudora Survivors include the widow a son Joe Dwyer of the home a daughter Miss Marzella Dwyer Baldwin a brother William Dwyer of Overland Park and a sister Mrs
Mrs. Ogg, born in 1887 in Douglas Kansas, died September 28 1947. Survived by sons Courtney and Cecil Ogg who operate Ogg West Side Grocery and Oggs Super Market with other children Floyd Lawrence Otis T Shuey and Ford Waring. Eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive. Funeral Monday at Lamb Funeral Home at 2 pm with Rev Charles P Knight officiating. Interment in Highland Cemetery. Ogg stores to close Monday afternoon.
