Rain halts two day Skunk Run and taxes quilt show turnout
Rain disrupted the first two day Skunk Run in City Park delaying Sunday events. The Ottawa Quilters Guild show at Ottawa Middle School drew about 800 attendees, similar to past years, with 500 on Saturday and 300 on Sunday. The Friends of the Ottawa Library benefited from the rain as the book sale stayed under a tent, aiding shopping while hurting concessions. Leftover books head to a Topeka VA hospital. Friday preview sales for FOL members drew 80 to 90 attendees with about 20 memberships renewed. Ottawa High School Student Council volunteers assisted, earning credit in an incentive program.
