Ottawa Suzuki Institute Mid Southwest enrolls record 400
The Ottawa University Suzuki Institute Mid Southwest opens Saturday with its largest enrollment ever, totaling 400 students from preschool to high school and teacher trainees. The 16th institute, led by Alice Joy Lewis, runs through June 14 with 40 faculty from across the country and a slate of public concerts at the OU Chapel.

Limon twister injures at least 12 and damages town core
A tornado ripped through Limon Colorado destroying Main Street businesses and a trailer park injuring at least 12. Sirens reportedly warned residents ten minutes before impact as hotel guests sought shelter in bathtubs. Residential area damage was lighter while a trailer park sustained heavy loss.

Trucker dies in I 35 wreck near Franklin County
A 48 year old Madison man Larry G Barnard was killed when his Grain Express semi left I 35 near 15th Street and overturned while hauling beef tallow from Iowa. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected partially from the cab. The spill posed no environmental hazard and the death marks the third traffic fatality in Franklin County in 1990.
