Backyard Barbecue Cook-off registration extended in Garnett
The Garnett Jaycees extend the registration for the first annual Backyard Barbecue Cook-off to 7 8 p m Friday or 6 a m to noon Saturday at North Lake Park football stadium. Entry is 15 for one category and 10 for others with beef brisket pork fowl and pork ribs as categories. Entries judged at 4 p m Saturday with $10 gift certificates from Peace IGA for each entrant.

Seaboard contractor fined for dumping and burning
Seaboard Farms Inc. contractor FarmPRO Inc. was fined 40000 by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality for open dumping and burning at two hog farms in Beaver County. The case followed a Wildlife Department complaint and photos showing a large pit of construction and demolition waste at the Dorman South Farm and confirmed open burning at Seaboard sites near Floris.

GarneTT INT League waterski meet at Cedar Valley
The INT League amateur waterski knee board and wakeboard contest is expected to draw 130 to 150 entries at Cedar Valley Reservoir Garnett this weekend. The south lake will close to the public Sat and Sun while spectators may watch free of charge. Todd Whalen coordinates with classes from novice to senior and a state novice tour championship is set for Aug 27-29 at Garnett North Lake.
