Governor Brownback warns of substantial loss of federal funds
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback warned of a substantial contraction in federal money if the U.S. defaults on its debt. He said Kansas would face cuts and backfills as the federal government prioritizes bond payments, with social services and education funding likely hit hardest. Senate leaders and transportation officials indicate uncertainty and plan proposals to cope with potential large reductions while avoiding immediate project stopgaps.
