The Vietnamese Red Cross launched a fund to aid victims of Agent Orange and warned the toxic defoliant is beginning to affect a third generation. Red Cross official John Geoghegan described the ongoing impact and the horrific prospect of grandchildren inheriting its harm. Estimates of victims range from tens of thousands to 2 million in Vietnam.
A tanker truck struck an interstate overpass in Valdese North Carolina around 12:30 p.m. causing a fire that collapsed the bridge onto the vehicle. One person was killed and I-40 remained closed while crews cleared debris. The tanker’s cargo was not confirmed.
Former Ottawa resident Otis Earl Goodale, sentenced for indecent liberties against an 8 year old in 1990, is among parole candidates along with Jeffrey S.
