A Lenexa firm and the Miami Indian tribe of Oklahoma plan a 46000 square foot casino and restaurant complex near the Linn County line in Miami County. The project would split profits 60 percent to the tribe and 40 percent to the contractor for design, construction, financing and operation.

New pump aids rural fire fighting effort
The Franklin County Fireman's Association unveils a new eight horsepower water pump and air compressor to boost rural fire safety. The pump, on a flotation mount, draws water from ponds or streams delivering up to 700 gallons per minute with two hose connections. Housed at Ottawa Fire Department, it will be moved to needed rural sites. Dennis Norton notes water access in rural areas has been a problem. No total cost yet available as FCFA has not been billed.
