Melinda Hughes a recent AIT graduate at Fort Sam Houston Texas will be held from 3 to 10 p m Saturday at 624 N Cedar Hughes daughter of William and Mary Hughes of 825 Tremont will depart for Fort Gordon Ga to join the 232nd Medical Battalion A community bulletin notes several local events including a $100 gasoline raffle by Ottawa American Legion Baseball to aid next week’s Legion tournament and two job search workshops at Neosho County Community College with a $30 fee each.

Historical society seeks volunteers for interpretation program
The Franklin County Historical Society plans a free four session training for first person interpreters to present life in the 1850s to 1860s at Dietrich Cabin in City Park.
