Daily Report Police arrests and thefts across Pomona and Wellsville

Pomona and Wellsville police report several arrests on Saturday and Sunday including Dustin Clary on battery resisting arrest and battery against a law officer. Other arrests include Justin Smith for domestic battery and Sean Hopkins for failure to appear. Thefts cover a DVD player sandstone marker chainsaw and wallet with losses ranging from 30 to 130 dollars. Vandalism and damage reports include a mailbox, vehicle, and property damage. Accidents note a deer strike on I-35 and a parked truck damage. Several medical emergencies and a welfare check are documented.

Arts council offers new guitar and art classes

Teacher charged in bomb threat at Phillipsburg Junior High

Phillipsburg police arrest Ian Johnson a veteran fifth grade teacher with 26 years experience on a aggravated criminal threat charge after a March 21 bomb threat at Phillipsburg Junior High prompted evacuations road closures and business emptying. Johnson appeared in district court and posted a $25000 bond.

Kansas plans 150th anniversary of territory split

To mark Kansas 150th year since organization as a territory in 1854 a nine member commission chaired by Judge Deanell R. Tacha is planning a 2004 year long observance. The panel aims to present an unvarnished view of turmoil including displacement of Indian groups and a legacy of land and water issues.
