Red Cross warns of blood shortages ahead of Fourth of July
The Red Cross central plains region reports concern over potential shortages of O positive and O negative blood as the July 4 holiday approaches. Donors are urged to give at 1 800 GIVE LIFE. criteria include good health weight at least 110 pounds and age 17 or older.

Babbitt removes falcons from list of endangered
Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt announced a plan to remove the American peregrine falcon from the endangered species list citing a strong recovery. The event occurred atop the Bank of New York Building, where two falcons nest and hatched five chicks this spring. The Fish and Wildlife Service will publish a notice of intent, inviting 60 days of public comment. Arizona reports the largest peregrine population among the 48 contiguous states with over 200 nesting pairs.
