Sheriff’s Department News Details Saturday incidents

The sheriffs office logged a burglary alarm at Williamsburg Fuel Mart LLC with window breach and under $1,000 damage. A hay bale fire burned 20 bales worth $1,800 on Woodson Road. A domestic disturbance report was forwarded to the county attorney. An intrusion alarm at Osborne Road showed no theft. A Ottawa man reported $500 losses from home theft. Two vehicle accidents near K-68, Georgia Road and Stafford/Louisiana roads caused over $1,000 damage.

James DeVore dies at 80 in Newton Kansas

Robert James Jim DeVore age 80 of Newton died January 4 2012 at his home. Services set for January 19 2012 at Dengel Son Mortuary Ottawa Kansas. He was born June 28 1931 in Lower Drew Ontario Canada and served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He married Mary Dodds in Ottawa in 1954 and lived in Ontario before moving to Longton in 2000 and later Newton with partner Nita Bishop. Survived by wife Mary sons Jay Jeff Rob Charles and Susan all of Ontario sister Jane and husband Albert Ontario brother Bill and wife Shirley Princeton Ontario and grandchildren and great grandchild.
