Wellsville scores 16 points in first quarter and trails 25-24 at halftime before Gardner pulls away in the third. Slayden nets 11 in the fourth for Wellsville as Bartmess leads Gardner with 15. Shiloh Thomas scores 14 for Wellsville. Jill Dorsey adds 13. Gardner 49 Wellsville 47. Williamsburg remains undefeated at 6-0 after beating Lyndon 42-27 behind Mindy Mallory 13 and Laura Driver 12.
Gridiron veteran Manusky, known for relentless special teams work, stepped in for Kansas City when starter Anthony Davis was sidelined. He made four tackles and quickly proved his value as a fearless, old school linebacker who studies opponents, leads in special teams tackles, and helps turn games with blocked and run plays.
Williamsburg presses Lyndon into a faster pace and rolls to a 57-37 victory led by Lee Driver with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Driver posted 10 steals and 11 assists in a quadruple double effort as Williamsburg built a 34-12 halftime edge and extended their win streak before the holiday break. Preston Fulton led Lyndon with 12 points while John Dixon and Chris Parkin contributed for the Panthers. Williamsburg hosts Jayhawk Linn on Jan 9. Lyndon visits Burlingame on Jan 6.
The Kansas Jayhawks clash with USC at 9 35 p m will be shown nationally on Fox Sports Net but not on Ottawa Cable in town. The national telecast leaves local viewers unable to watch the game locally.
