Freeman's conviction reversed on appeal in Kansas
The Kansas Court of Appeals reversed Scott P. Roeder's conviction for criminal use of explosives, ruling evidence from a car search was illegally seized. Roeder, linked to the anti-government Freeman group, faced potential retrial but may be dismissed if the state lacks another viable case. The decision calls into question the legality of the April 1996 seizure and Roeder's probation conditions.
