Administration launches 198 million anti drug media campaign
The Clinton administration announces a 198 million four month anti drug media effort aimed at youth ages 9 to 17 in 12 cities from Connecticut to California. Barry McCaffrey says the campaign uses parents, mass media and coalitions to curb rising youth drug use with exit level messages on marijuana and inhalants. Cities include Atlanta Baltimore Boise Denver Hartford Houston Milwaukee Portland San Diego Sioux City Town Tucson and Washington. The plan follows a University of Michigan survey showing eighth graders turning away from drugs while older teens show higher use.
