Stranded Passengers Find Going Rough
About 1,325 people were landed at Kansas City International Airport due to Wednesday's crash and bad weather at Chicago O'Hare. Airlines paid for hotels and meals in Kansas City and St. Joseph, and buses were arranged. Some passengers used buses and Amtrak to reach Chicago, but space was tight amid the holiday rush. A Braniff spokesman said Amtrak offered a special train but none was available. Flights to Chicago on Thursday remained delayed with only one runway open and marginal weather. Mr and Mrs Lester Roberts of Winslow Arkansas missed connections, canceled a train reservation, and considered taking the bus home once they reach Chicago.
