Area's First Tree Farm Earns Franklin County Certification
Marvin Barrow of a 175 acre farm north of here received a diamond shaped green and white Tree Farm sign Wednesday, marking his wooded area as managed for farm and community. Since 1968 he has weeded, thinned and pruned 21 percent of woodland, marked 10 more acres for thinning, planted 600 trees, and created wildlife habitat with a pond and plum bushes.

Apollo 17 Crew Hails New Era
Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cer n an Harrison Schmitt and Ronald Evans returned to Houston from Samoa to a crowd of space workers and families and hailed the mission as mankind’s entry into a new era.
