NAFTA impact questioned by UCLA study says jobs not created
UCLA researchers find that NAFTA has not produced the hoped for net job gains and that many workers lost jobs due to trade with Mexico and Canada. The report notes identification hurdles for affected workers and criticizes underestimation by unions, while economists warn that benefits are not evident and Canada has gained auto jobs instead of Mexico. The study calls for higher Mexican wages to sustain U.S. demand.
