FDA Orders Hexachlorophene Banned From Baby Baths
The FDA says newborn baths with pHisoHex and other hexachlorophene cleansers may risk infant bloodstream absorption and brain damage in animals. Daily bathing is not proven safe or effective, and labeling will warn against total body use. Hospitals and doctors will receive notices while firms have 30 days to respond.
