Soviets Land Man's First Vehicle On Mars
MOSCOW AP The un manned Soviet Mars 3 descent capsule became the first manmade vehicle to land safely on Mars. The craft parachuted to a site in the southern hemisphere and transmitted brief signals before they stopped. Mars 3 orbited Mars while Mars 2, launched nine days earlier, followed a separate orbit.
