Fire Displaces 100 In Des Moines Block Burnout

Fifth Slaying By Strangulation Shocks Chicago Suburbs
Police seek a sadistic slayer after Ruth Beal a 50 year old mother was found beaten strangled and raped in her Harvey Illinois home. The naked body lay in a rear bedroom, hands bound with a stocking, rags stuffed in her mouth, another stocking around her neck. Beal's death marks the fifth strangulation in seven weeks in the Chicago area, all unsolved. Her husband Larry Beal 52 found the scene on return from work. Beal left behind two children Frank 16 and Barbara Homan 21 of Tempe Arizona.
