Garnett’s Walker Collection draws national attention

Maynard Walker donated art to Garnett in 1951 and a bond funded a library to house it. Curator Robert Logan and Robert Cugno expanded the collection with works by Corot Picasso Grosz and others, earning national notice and a Kansas Governor’s Arts Award for Community Development in 1994.

Garnett to seek KDOT grant for US-59 storm drain project

Garnett City Commission approved a $336,795 storm water improvement plan for US-59 including a new culvert and 380 feet of concrete channel. City share is about 16,840. Funding must come from KDOT with bids and final specs pending. Phase I sewer work in voting Precinct IV set for bid opening Sept. 24.
