NationsBank to acquire Boatmen's Bancshares in $9.5B deal
NationsBank Corp will pay about 9.5 billion dollars in cash and stock for Boatmen's Bancshares Inc, creating the fourth-largest U.S. banking company with roughly 230 billion dollars in assets. The merger broadens NationsBank's reach from the South into the Midwest, where Boatmen's is based.
