Area vets honor POW/MIA Day in Franklin County
At Franklin County Veterans Memorial, 7 p.m. on September 19, area families of missing servicemen will join the POW/MIA Day observance. Stacey Walters, wife of U S Army Sgt Donald Walters, has been invited to attend, honoring all families who sacrificed. Walters was captured and later executed by Iraqi forces after an ambush near the start of the Iraq war. The event laments the Lynch controversy and supports veterans’ families while recognizing the broader wartime losses.
