State pushes booster seats with seven rolling billboards

TOPEKA AP Seven Kansas Highway Patrol public resources officers will tow bright trailers across the state to promote booster seat use for children aged four to eight. Each trailer includes educational materials and a mobile booster seat check lane. Transportation Secretary Deb Miller says boosters and belts save lives as Kansas reports only 45 percent child belt use. State law requires under four to use special seats and four to thirteen to wear belts. Senators back a bill for boosters for four-to-seven year olds under 80 pounds or four feet nine inches, but the House resists.
