Thrust Halted in Vietnam Front North of My Chanh
June 22 1972 reports note six tanks crossing the river with fighting near a Roman Catholic church now used as a South Vietnamese command post at My Chanh. U S jets destroyed three 130 mm guns west of My Chanh while shells hit Camp Evans southeast of the town. Marines sweep east of the paratroopers in Quang Tri province and two U S planes were downed but pilots rescued. The U S Command says over 270 strikes occurred Wednesday with a MIG 21 shot down near Hanoi.

Eight Americans Killed in Viet War Last Week
SAIGON AP report shows eight Americans killed in action in the prior week, 18 dead from nonhostile causes, 11 missing, and 27 wounded. Nonhostile deaths were the week’s highest in 12 weeks of the Vietnamese offensive, many from air crashes. South Vietnam tallies 3,133 enemy killed, 724 government dead, 2,529 wounded, 156 missing.
