Demonstration Program At Osceola High School

Wesley Flanery former science teacher designs a flight background program to explain heliocopter jet propulsion and aviation principles. He will present at Osceola high school on Thursday September 27 at 9 00 a m using wind tunnel models compass and stage assembled radial engine. Flanery has drawn acclaim appearing before large audiences and with the Universities of Wisconsin Minnesota and Kansas Lecture Course Bureau plans.

District No 13 organized a Citizenship Club at school Monday electing Jer ome Gabriel as President and naming themselves The Happy Go Lucky Knights. Pvt Virgil Jonansen is on furlough with his parents. District 13 beat District 14 in kittenball 51 to 6 Friday after a Victory Club meeting.

Chamber of Commerce Meeting Discusses Field, Armistice Day

The monthly chamber session covered a proposed athletic field in Morningside and committee reports. It recommended observing Armistice Day on November 12 with stores closing at 11 pm and staying closed all day, and endorsed supporting Mr. Siegel to expand locker capacity. About 25 members attended.

Veterans' Service Committee aids World War II veterans in Polk County

Veterans returning home will be assisted through the Polk County Veterans' Service Committee. The office, authorized by Legislative Act 351, will be funded from the county general fund. The committee coordinates with state and local agencies to ensure veterans know their rights and receive education and employment help to readjust to civilian life. It will meet with federal, state, and local groups to support rehabilitation efforts.

The Victory 4-H girls choose Winter Wardrobe as their 1945 46 project at Achievement Day. Mrs Rex Brigham and Mrs Roy Grossnicklaus will lead. This is the county s third clothing club with early 4 H work hinting at strong competition.
