Pickett 50th Wedding Anniversary Observed in Osceola
Mr and Mrs Bruce Pickett celebrated half a century of marriage with an open house at the Methodist church in Osceola on Sunday, May 5, attended by about 250 guests. Family members and friends served, poured, and presented a four-generation photo display and a gold cake as tribute to the couple.

The Shelby Senior Class will hold a spaghetti feed on Saturday September 25 from 4 to 8 p m in the school lunch room. Admission costs 1 for adults 75c for students and 28c for children under 12. Tickets are on sale from seniors or at the door.

The Polk County Historical Society marked its fifth anniversary with a banquet at the Stemoburz Hotel featuring old time tables and vintage items. Wm Schmidt of the State Historical Society led the program while Eli Larson sang with guitar. Officers elected: Mildred Flodman president, John Falk VP, Hazel McFadden secretary, Phil Nyberg treasurer. A lifetime certificate awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ryan on his 90th birthday August 30. 21 others to receive certificates. The next meeting set for Oct 21 at Osceola grade school gym.

Miss Ilene Johnson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Johnson Tacoma Washington and Wallace E. Samuelson son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gunnar Samuelson Stromsburg united in marriage at the church of the Nazarene in York on Saturday evening September 4. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. John R. Smith before 150 guests with Patsy Stark Fairmont as pianist. The bride wore a white lined lace street length dress designed by Mrs. Margaret Dozier Osceola and a pearl crown veil. The couple planned a honeymoon to the Ozarks and will reside on a farm east of Stromsburg.
