Dr. Harry de Silva of Yale University’s drivers research bureau reports a Connecticut survey of 3,000 auto drivers showing women safer than men. He notes younger drivers age 20 to 25 have about three times as many accidents per mile as those in their 40s, and speeds rise with solo or distant passengers while trips with spouses or close kin slow drivers.
