Funeral services for Ed Almstrum in Lincoln

Ed Almstrum 76 died Tuesday at Bryan Memorial Hospital Lincoln after a period of ill health. Funeral arrangements are pending at Kepner Roberts Funeral Home. Survived by daughter Mrs Hubert Russell of Bishop California and son Kenneth of Kelso Washington.

Valley Methodist Church Demolished to Mark End of Era

The Valley Methodist Church, closed in December 1966, was demolished last week after parishioners dissolved the congregation and transferred ownership to the Valley Cemetery Association. The former church now serves as a community hall and polling place, with no final disposition decided for the bell tower site.

Osceola Booster Club to Meet Sept 15 at City Cafe

Osceola booster group holds first meeting of the season Monday at 8 p m at City Cafe with a trial evening agenda after early breakfast routine. They will show game films and discuss memberships and season tickets as well as a group trip package to Near Minnesota and possible Green Bay pre game tickets. Bulldogs Scrimmage Shows Promise for 1969 Season

The Osceola Bulldogs held an under the lights scrimmage last Saturday highlighting Cal Coffin’s 57 yard end sweep for a TD and Leo Potter’s 35 yards as fullback. Ed Wieseman and Bob Gissler connected for a 9 yard TD pass with the same pair adding the extra point. The first game is Friday at East Butler as Osceola seeks to extend a 17 game unbeaten streak.

Lions Sponsor Girl Scouts and Midget Football Benefit

The Osceola Lions voted to donate 45 dollars to the Girl Scout Fund Drive and to continue as sponsors for local troops. They announced Lion prep shoots starting September 24 with a second shoot on October 6 to benefit the local midget football team.

Midland College honors 65 students at Academic Honor Convocation

Sixty five Midland College students were honored Monday at the Academic Honor Convocation. Students with a 3.50 GPA or higher in the second semester of the 1968 69 school year were recognized. Anita Peterson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Milton Peterson, was among them as a freshman.

Miss Nancy Richardson will teach Spanish in Osceola and Shelby public schools with 15 hours weekly in Osceola and 13 in Shelby.
