The Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation district public speaking contest in York crowned Mrs. Arvid Peterson of Osceola as first prize winner. Second went to Mrs. Lloyd Hahn of Stromsburg, with Mrs. Rex Brigham of Shelby and A. D. Tietjen of DeWitt tied for third. Final judging will occur next week in Lincoln during the fair.

J G Lisco Dies After Four Months Illness
Jacob George Lisco 59, longtime Silver Creek area implement dealer and Spanish American War veteran, died at 4 15 a m after a four month illness. He was born August 19 1878 in Polk County and served in two overseas terms. Surviving are his wife two daughters a son three sisters and three brothers. Funeral at St Lawrence church Silver Creek followed by burial in Omaha.
