Osceola to move post office to the brick block once housing the Osceola Bank. Postmaster Snider targets open location by November 1, with vaults reused from the old site. New site offers central location, larger lobby, improved heating, and separate carrier doors to avoid lobby congestion.
The Polk County women plan a convention at the Methodist Church in Osceola on Friday October 19 with sessions at 10 720 AM and 1 30 PM. Activities include speeches readings piano solos choir numbers and a play by the Osceola Drama Department featuring club members and local students.
Miss Signe Samuelson plans to close her Osceola ready to wear and millinery shop and move about November to Ogallala Nebraska to open a similar store. Her father Oscar Samuelson will hold a farm sale on the 25th as the family relocates to join her in the western home.
L R Dillon the new telephone manager has rented the J L Heald residence and is moving in this week. Mr and Mrs Robert Sigler announce the birth of a son on Friday October 12. Royal Neighbors meet at Mrs E L Rogers home. Mr and Mrs Raymond Croisant and son visited Mrs Fred Croisant Sunday. Mr and Mrs Albert Timm Mrs Frank Chauner and Milton Chauner of Montana attended the Nebraska Montana game in Lincoln Saturday. Milton Chauner left for Bozeman Montana after a two week visit with grandparents Mr and Mrs Frank Chaucer. Mr and Mrs M A Mills and Mr and Mrs F D Mills attended the golden wedding of Mr and Mrs Hasslebach at Columbus Tuesday. Walter Pierson owns a new Chevrolet Coach bought from Nielson Chevrolet Co this week. W C T U met yesterday at Mrs W H Clark home. State Convention report given by Mrs Joel Hanson. Mr and Mrs Frank Craven and daughters of Exeter Neb were guests of the George Craven family Sunday. J W Elwood of Omaha was in Osceola last week at the home of his sister Mrs Albert Ryan. Merry Workers meet next Thursday afternoon in Presbyterian Church parlors with Mrs W B Welche and Mrs George Matheson as hostesses. Virginia Emmons 10, underwent tonsil removal Thursday.

The South Shelby Club will meet at Mrs. Hattie Cook's home on Thursday October 25 with Mrs. Iva Johnston as program leader. It marks the first lesson in project work and parliamentary law led by Mrs. Bessie Irland.

Fred Dunn remodels his farm home adding two rooms. Walt Zimmerman is ill and bedridden for several days.
The eighth grade will tour Lincoln state institutions next Saturday. Students pay 1 to 1.5 dollars each for gas, oil, and meals, with three cars promised and a driver needed. Departing 5:30 A.M., visits include penitentiary, capital, University, and Agricultural College, with guides arranged and a meeting with Governor McMullen plus Knot Hole Club guest pass for the Syracuse Nebraska game.
Miss Christina Horst spent the remainder of last week with Mr and Mrs Elmer Horst. Basket Supper Carnival at Miller school house attracted several locals with a good time reported. Dist No 5 closed Thursday and Friday for Teacher's Institute. Florence Timm visited her sister Mrs Richard Wieseman over the weekend. Elmer Horst and wife joined Calmar Dunn for Sunday dinner. Walter Wieseman and Mrs Frank Miller visited York Monday. Burrel Fox and daughter Olive attended the funeral of O M Bond at Gresham Monday. Mrs Lee Mickey and Mrs Geo Wieseman went to Osceola on business. Rally Day at Valley church postponed to next Sunday due to weather. Dr C L LeMar and children spent Sunday with John at Lincoln.
The gravel contract for No 66 between here and Polk was awarded to a Kearney bidder last Friday. Some gravel should be laid this fall. The Blue River bridge project is expected within a year, with the December let and two year window for starting work. The highway grade remains in good condition under the maintenance crew.
The Osceola Woman's Club met October 15 at the school house with Mrs. G W Craven presiding. Delegates were chosen for the state convention and the Osceola County Convention is set for October 19 at the M E Church with a lunch and a promised strong program. Tickets for Prof Yenne's lectures are available from drama department members. The next meeting is scheduled for November 5.
The Woman's Club drama department opened eight lectures with Herbert Yenne of the University of Nebraska on The Theatre of Yesterday. Additional talks include The Theatre of Today on November 14. Admission is fifty cents, season tickets one dollar, and the department asks community support for worthwhile lectures.
The Osceola Business Women's League hosted the Freshman Class girls, mothers, and female teachers at the schoolhouse Tuesday evening. A program featured a Ruth Bond and Ellen Calhoun piano duet and Lois Rasp musical reading with Maude Reed on piano. Guests then fished for fortunes sealed in peanut shells before refreshments.
Married last Sunday morning, Verne Hilton and Alma Wright of Central City tied the knot at the Methodist parsonage. Attendants Ralph Edgar and Carl Erickson, with bridesmaids Noma Jersen and Lucille Snider of Central City.
