Osceola Post 91 will host the 7th District annual American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Convention on October 23, 1946. 200 to 300 delegates from posts and auxiliary units across many towns including Osceola Brainard David City Fremont Ulysses Clarkson Howells Leigh Schuyler Dodge Hooper Scribner Uehling Columbus Creston Humphrey Lindsay Monroe Platte Center Polk Ashland Stromsburg Cedar Bluffs Ceresco Malmo Morse Bluffs Wahoo Prague and Yutan will attend for afternoon and evening sessions to discuss district affairs and veterans' matters.

Former Osceola Resident Dies in Norfolk at 108
Nebraska's oldest Civil War veteran Lewis B. Musselman died Saturday at his Norfolk home at age 108 from age-related causes. Born July 28, 1843 near Newark Ohio he served in the Union Army from 1862, fought in Kentucky Tennessee and the Mobile Campaign before the war ended. He moved to Nebraska in 1871 and later Osceola before settling in Norfolk in 1900. Survived by wife, son Harry Musselman of Osceola two daughters Mae Harford of Chicago and E E Kennard of Norfolk plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Eastern Nebraska opens October 19 to January 5 with a daily limit of seven cock pheasants and male-only harvest. Western area runs October 26 to December 9 with a five cock limit. Hunting hours are from half an hour before sunrise to sunset. All birds must show sex and remain identifiable by head tail feathers or feet. No hen pheasants may be hunted. Possession rules define ownership and include stored birds or multiple holders until dispositions are made.
