Thomas C. Thomas of Stromsburg was named Naval Aviation Cadet and sent to Pensacola Florida for flight training. After seven months he will receive either an Ensign commission in the Naval Reserve or a Second Lieutenant commission in the Marine Corps Reserve and proceed to active duty.

Mrs. Ella Rathburn Everitts born April 4 1872 in Amandan Illinois died October 6 at age 70 years 6 months and 2 days. She married William Everitts July 4 1888 and later had two sons. Survived by husband William son Simeon E Everitts of Harlen Kentucky and grandson Dean Everotts of Lincoln. Funeral held Friday at Kepner Funeral Home Rev G A Randall officiating. Interment Osceola Cemetery.

AAA Erects Wooden Bins in Polk County
John M. Staroscik, Polk County AAA loans committee member, reports 22 new wooden bins with 1610 bushel capacity each erected in the county last month. Osceola, Shelby, Stromsburg, and Polk host bins, with plans for 20 more. The bins store Commodity Credit Corp corn. 1941 corn sealed for two years may be turned over for loan repayment with 30 days notice by Oct 31, 1942. Over 42,000 bushels stored to date.
