Polk County Fair Association reelected all officers for another year at the Wednesday meeting. Officers are President Louis Hastert Vice President Geo Wieeseman Secretary Jay Hastings Treasurer JF Anderson. The secretary treasurer report shows a profit over 800 dollars after paying all claims and settling prior-year claims. Good cooperation sound management and favorable weather credited for the strong showing.

Funeral Rites Held for Mrs. John F. Anderson in Stromsburg
Funeral services for Mrs. John F. Anderson were conducted Wednesday afternoon at her home and the Swedish Lutheran Church. She died suddenly Sunday morning at age 81, a longtime Stromsburg resident. Survived by daughter Edna Anderson and sons Fred A. Anderson and a son in the west, with Rev. Trued presiding. Community notes report council approves 3.2 beer rules and sale hours from 9 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, with venues including George Shrike’s recreation parlor and Emil Gustafson’s establishment.

Quilt Show At St Pauls Lutheran Church Draws Large Crowd
The Missionary Society of St Pauls Lutheran Church sponsored a Quilt Show on Tuesday from 2 PM to 9 PM. About 200 visitors viewed 120 quilts in the churchs main auditorium and basement with pipe organ music by local pianists and lunch served at four tables. The organizers thank Osecola and community for lending quilts and helping the event succeed.

Mrs Linde and family of Peetz Colorado returned home after a three day Shelby visit with Mrs Olson and O E Olson as her daughter heads to Lincoln General Hospital for nurse training. Numerous relatives from Scribner Burley and Craig visited Shelby including Thelen family for a funeral and a string of friends and parish members attended the St Ann Sodality stands raising funds.

Rolland Peterson six year old son of Mr and Mrs A W Peterson was operated on for gangrenous appendicitis at Osceola Hospital on Saturday by Dr Hamey Eklund. Melvin Mataner of Gresham had his tonsils removed at Osceola Hospital on Tuesday by Dr Harley S Ekland. Mrs Will Ferris of the valley underwent an operation for removal of tonsils at Osceola Hospital yesterday morning. Dr R L Schroeder performed the operation. Mrs Wilbur Sargent who underwent an appendicitis operation by Dr R L Schroeder at Osceola Hospital last Thursday will return home late this week.
