The Polk County Nebraska treasurer announces a public auction of delinquent lands and town lots for unpaid taxes and special assessments. The sale begins November 7 1955 at 9 a.m. in Osceola in the county treasurer’s office and continues daily until all parcels are sold.
The community is saddened by the sudden death of Rollie Stephenson aged 74 on Sunday. Funeral details not provided. Mr and Mrs Axel Anderson of Portland Oregon returned home after visiting relatives in the locality. Miss Lillie Chindgren accompanied them and will visit in Oregon.
Funeral services were held at the Mission church Sunday afternoon for Rev. H. A. Fangerstrom who died Tuesday in Dallas Texas seeking medical aid. He leaves a wife and son Moses of Chicago and had lived in Stromsburg for many years.
Mrs Lyle Cockle and Mrs Ford Pond hosted the Mercy Worker Society gathering with devotions and a business session led by president Mrs Raymond Beebe. A chicken supper and bazaar were set for Thursday evening, officers elected, and the next meeting scheduled for October 12.
Mr and Mrs Wendell Spalding were in Grand Island over the weekend serving as attendants at her sister's wedding at Trinity Methodist Church on Sunday.
Mrs Edward Schernikau returned to Longmont Colorado after a week with relatives and attended her brother-in-law and sister open house. Mrs Glenn Williams and Mrs Dennis Herron joined dinner at the Campain home. The Barry family moved to the Laura Scott residence in Osceola's southwest.
