Judge Landis traveled from Seward to conduct a district court hearing in Osceola. Roy Cox of Osceola sued Browning Warren of Lincoln for 243.02 over repairs on Warren owned post office building. The Polk County Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union met at Scott's Hall in Stromsburg last Friday. President Elton Berck called the session to order at 8 30. Miss DeEtte Hedlund played piano as the audience sang America. Lloyd Treadway spoke on a Farm Bureau led effort to cap farm property taxes at seven mills and city property at fifteen mills.

4 H Beef Clubs Plan New Organizing Drive
Members leaders and parents met to resuscitate 4 H Beef Clubs for 1940. Youths aiming to work with a 300 to 350 pound calf can arrange calf purchases via the county extension agent with help from the agricultural agent.
