Developments in Hanson Case Point to Lincoln Clues

Lincoln investigators pursue new angles in the Hanson murder case. Colorado officers list Neal as central, tracing his movements from July 4, 1932, to 1933, including stays with Mrs McIntosh and visits to the Hanson home. Neal, an ex convict with a limp, worked as a bond salesman in 1932 and later joined an automobile business in Chicago.

Osceola Woman's Club Elects Delegates at Heeitian Meet

The Osceola Woman's Club met at the schoolhouse Monday. Mrs. A. E. Nuquist was chosen as delegate to the State Convention in Fairbury on October 9 10 11 with alternates Mrs. A. F. Nuquist and Mrs. L. M. Shaw. The County Convention will meet at Polk October 19. sessions start at 10 a.m. A luncheon is planned. District President Mrs. R. W. Hill of Hebron will speak. Maxine Brooks performed two violin solos with Ruth Miller as pianist.

The Osceola baseball team was defeated by Stromsburg in a Thursday game played here. The final score was 10 to 0.

Stromsburg blank Central City in league clash at Buckley Park

Stromsburg baseball defeated Central City 5 to 0 to claim undisputed first in the second half of the Central Nebraska league. Lyle Johnson pitched a fine game as Stromsburg earned a playoff date with Osceola in Osceola next Sunday.

Rev J L Hedbloom appears on the sits list this week. A 12 pound baby boy was born Friday September 28 to Mr and Mrs Clifford Cramer. Mrs Wm Welch of Fort Collins Colorado and Mr and Mrs Blaine Putman visited Mr and Mrs Earl Clark at Omaha Saturday and Sunday. Dr and Mrs J B Williams hosted a one o clock luncheon at their home Sunday. Mrs Charles Ang, Mr and Mrs Clarence Anderson and Gerald Widga returned from Illinois Thursday. The W C T U meets Tuesday at the home of Mrs W A Lindburg with Mrs Haverland of Stromsburg presenting a state convention report. A pot luck lunch will be served. Miss Helen Marvin, primary teacher at Greenwood, was weekend guest of Miss Grayce Stevens. Mr and Mrs Will Green, Mr and Mrs Allison, Mrs Margaret Anderson, Mr and Mrs Clyde Green, and Mr and Mrs Glenn Green attended the S C Green sale at Central City last week. The S C Green family leaves this week for Oregon. Glenn Hill suffered rheumatism last week. The Baptist Church youth held a hard-time party in the basement Friday with games and lunch. Mr and Mrs A W Shafer were surprised Monday when Sunday School classes gathered for a farewell party as the Shafer’s leave for Oregon. They were given gifts and lunch.

Reconstruction Finance Grants Boosts New Corn Loans

The Reconstruction Finance Corporation and Commodity Credit Corporation announce a $100 million commitment for new corn loans at 55 cents per bushel, available in ten states. Loans require qualifying corn, shelling grade No 4 or better, with repaying borrowers converting existing loans by October 15.

Osceola Opens Season With Narrow Loss to Polk

Osceola’s football team fell 7-0 to Polk in the opener as Polk scored on a first quarter pass after a kickoff. A late fourth quarter Polk TD was ruled illegal. The coach urged strong support as fencing improvements and upcoming game against Shelby were noted.

Emergency Livestock Day At Nebraska College Campus

An emergency livestock day is scheduled on Friday October 12 at the University of Nebraska college of agriculture campus to help farmers use available feed efficiently and carry stock through winter. Polk County farmers are invited. the event replaces the usual Rooter's Day for swine producers.
