Osceola traveled to Clarks and lost 6 to 0 as fumbles plagued the visitors. Clarks built around eight veterans led by Madison while Osceola relied on Captain Herrmann Pierson and Lewis with Headlee as a substitute. The Polk County Farm Bureau Federation schedules its annual fall conference for Monday October 6. Precinct directors met last week with speakers L R Leonard and H M Rink of Lincoln to discuss state work and department progress. The program includes an entirely new membership basis and an additional personal service plan for 1930 and future years. The detailed plan will be announced at the conference in the county agent's office starting at 2 p m on October 6.

Newly Weds In Auto Accident Near Columbus
James Benes and Mrs Lena Krutz of Schuyler were married Saturday morning by Rev Handel Collier at the Methodist parsonage. Returning to Schuyler from here they were seriously injured when their car collided with an oil truck east of Columbus about three miles. Benes was badly cut and Mrs Benes suffered a broken ankle. Both vehicles were destroyed by fire and traffic halted for about an hour. Eugene Ainsworth and the truck driver helped pull the couple from the roadway as the oil truck’s gasoline tank exploded and the big tank was blasted in two.

Five students injured in highway crash near town
A car driven by Eugene Jones overturned five miles west of town Tuesday morning. Five high school students Inez Jones Vera Johnson Edythe Johnson Claus Johnson and Allen Peterson were riders. Edythe Johnson suffered severe leg wounds needing twenty stitches. Claus Johnson had cuts to face and ear. others had minor injuries.
