Peters, 40, of Omaha was killed instantly two miles east of Silver Creek when his car collided with a parked motor truck driven by Bill McDermott of Central City who had started to repair a tire. The truck caught fire but McDermott was uninjured. Peters was en route to Grand Island for his father's funeral. a telegram bore his parents death. Silver Creek firefighters extinguished the blaze. Stephen Brooks and Florence Graham celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Sunday with more than a hundred guests at their Silver Creek home. The couple wed September 25, 1886 on the farm now near Kent and Burke Ranch, and Brooks retired from the meat business in Osceola in 1934.
