Last week's mystery farm centered on Mrs John Gestrine located 11 miles west of Osceola. The 240 acre dairy property is run by Lester Gestrine, who owns it with a family history dating back 45 years.

The organ and vocal recital by Professor and Mrs John Seagard at St Paul Lutheran Church was postponed from last Sunday due to Mrs Seagard’s illness. It will now be held Sunday at eight o clock with sacred music. The Seaygards teach at Luther College Wahoo with him directing multiple choirs and her teaching voice. The community is invited and a free will offering will be received.
Firemans Annual Oyster Feed will be held Monday December 2 at 7 p m. The wives are invited to attend.
Polk County 4-H Achievement Day will be held in the Osceola High School Auditorium on Friday November 29. A cooperative supper starts at 6 30 p.m. Each family brings supper and service. a club program follows with skits solos or activities. 1957 4-H awards will be presented. Farm Bureau sponsors the membership program. pins awarded for 3 5 and 10 year members and a gold pin to junior leaders who earned the project this year.
Last week Mrs Wil win Lewis and Mrs Clyde Miller bought the Miller Cafe from Mr and Mrs Lloyd Miller. The late George Malek previously operated it. New owners take possession Monday and rename the cafe the L and M Cafe.

Osceola starts basketball practice with ten lettermen and promising reserves under Coach Les Taylor. Returning lettermen include Rod Wright Bill Kepner Curt Bryan Larry Frizzell Herdy Huggler Leroy Rein Maurice Ransom. Freshmen Don Larson Ronald Carlson Bob Dinges join the squad as potential contributors. The A team and B team are listed with several players named. First action comes next Tuesday at home against David City followed by a road trip to Friend on December 6.
Bill Orwig, athletic director of the University of Nebraska, addressed 144 athletes coaches and fans at the Osceola High School Auditorium annual Athletic Banquet. Mardell Berck presided Jim Malek welcomed 33 football coaches and athletes Bonnie Mentink crowned the squad queen. The event, sponsored by the Osceola Chamber of Commerce, featured music by Mr Cox and a tribute to education for players.
Mrs. Joe Fiel accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Tom Engelhardt of Saronville to Lincoln Saturday for a social outing and visit.
Osceola Chamber of Commerce outlines a busy Christmas schedule with free pony rides on December 7 and two Muse Theatre shows on December 14 and 21 for local children. The home lighting contest offers $15, $10 and $5 prizes with judging between December 10 and 17.
