The article describes the eightieth birthday observance for Mr. Fred Timm. Niece and nephews along with Mr. and Mrs. Chris Timm attended. A long dinner and reminiscences filled the day, with friends wishing him many more birthdays.

Mas Ida Carolina Quick was born in Sweden on December 20 1858 and died November 19 at the home of her daughter in Hordville Nebraska at age 61 years 10 months. She emigrated to America in 18 and later married Peter Branting and then John Quick. Survived by many children grandchildren and great grandchild, she resided near Swede Home Polk County since 1887 and was a member of Stromsburg Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held November 24 at 1 30 pm at the Stromsburg Lutheran Church with Rev C J Franzen, interment Swede Home Cemetery.

Nathaniel Van Dorn aged 99 years 11 months 15 days died at his Stromsburg home last Saturday. He was born December 5, 1820 in Richland County Ohio and married Elizabeth Parks in 1845. Ten children survive him plus 26 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at his son's home in Stromsburg conducted by Rev. W. H. Van Horn.
Ford built Liberty engines carried four Army aircraft on a 9000 mile round trip from Mitchell Field to Nome and back. The expedition led by Captain Street demonstrated durability, potential aerial mail routes, and set a record with motors completing the journey without repairs.
A novel ladder design eliminates rounds and uses two steps placed along the sides. Each step moves up and down with foot motion. Asdéent is produced by dragging one foot after the other while Barchert fixes the steps in the pressed position.

Joseph Heuston born in Rich on County Nebraska March 1 1880 and died November 22 1940 aged 63 years. He grew up in Richardson County and married Hettie Addleman September 17 1882 producing eight children. The family moved to Polk County twenty nine years ago where he became a devoted father and community member. He joined Wayland Christian Church February 22 1908 and was active in Gresham Lodge 171 Odd Fellows. Surviving are four sons Laurence Floyd Herman and William, daughter Anna Marsden, six grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters and many relatives. The funeral was at Wayland church November 23 with Rev C G Nelson preaching on Proverbs 13 22a. Interment followed at Hoffer Cemetery.
