1966 Wheat Program Aims To Aid Farmers In Fall Planning

Secretary Orville Freeman outlines the 1966 wheat program under the 1965 Food and Agriculture Act. Farmers signing up will get a higher return per bushel, with national allotments of 47.8 million acres and a unified signup after the year begins. The plan includes a 1.25 dollar per bushel loan, domestic certificates on 45 percent of yield, and certificates valued against parity. Options cover substitution with feed grains, voluntary diversion up to 50 percent, and a price-competitive export certificate system.

Enrollments Hit 15 125 at University of Nebraska
