Osceola Men Die In Car Ditch Near Silver Creek
Two Osceola residents Russell Hastings and Homer Francis were killed when Hastings’s car blew a tire on highway 39 and dumped into a ditch near Silver Creek. The crash pins the men under the vehicle. authorities suspect smothering. Hastings, 30, left a wife and two children. Francis, 41, left a widow and eight children. Funeral services planned at the Osceola Methodist Church with burial in Osceola Cemetery.

Fairview Valley Churches Plan Food Sale and Sermon
Mrs Lawrence Meacham entertained the Fairview Ladies Aid at Fairview Hall on Wednesday with a fine luncheon. They plan a food sale and lunch at the Farmers Union Store in Osceola on November 27. Next Sunday the pastor will deliver the second sermon on the life of Saul the first king of Israel. The Valley Ladies meet next Tuesday afternoon in the Valley Basement to work on a quilt. Mrs Glenna Wieseman serves the luncheon. Miss Florenne Dunn gave a fine piano solo in Young People’s Sunday School last Sunday. Lee Tavis in Columbus to see better tomorrow.

Jean Hotchkiss nine year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Wilbur Hotchkiss is in serious condition at University Hospital in Omaha after an acute sinus infection. She has undergone three operations and needs a blood transfusion once a suitable donor is found. Three Osceola residents went to the hospital but did not qualify as donors.

Mrs Chester Baldwin Injured in Lincoln Auto Crash
Mrs Chester Baldwin of Humboldt was seriously injured when her car collided with another vehicle in Lincoln Friday evening. Her husband and a Humboldt girl were passengers. Mr Baldwin and the other occupant had minor injuries while the other driver was killed. The Baldwins had lived in Humboldt for months and he was manager at the telephone office. Their car was demolished.
